HIGH LORD SHADE

Yes...the time is right. The time is now! This creation hath gestated for eons but its birth has finally come. The pains of labor were nearly unbearable and interminable but it is done. I therefore do consecrate this amalgam of creative endeavors and send it out into the world that it may grow and become a living, breathing entity in its own right.

DISCIPLE

"What is this thing you have done?"

HIGH LORD SHADE

I have taken an ancient love and knowledge of all things in direct relevance to film, games, toys, books & comics and recombined them into a juggernaut of creative energies that will instill a sense of awe, wonder and enjoyment in the masses.

DISCIPLE

"How will we know this juggernaut?"

HIGH LORD SHADE

Already its signs are visible; the card game known as Suburban Wars has sold itself out and the roleplaying system called Galaxy Prime is soon to follow. Shortly you will recognize the film Tomboys and the series Morgue & Stein as avatars of this juggernaut. Before long, there will be games set on boards and epic tales of novelized and artistic fiction.

DISCIPLE

"Master, sometimes I behave in a shameful manner and become finicky. Can you cleanse me of this hubris?"

HIGH LORD SHADE I cannot, my humble servant. I can but provide for you a cornucopia of creations to stimulate your imagination. Whether your mind drifts towards magical realms or far-off galaxies, whether you lean towards romanticized history or the dark future, whether you seek out the paranormal or the paramilitary all that I can do is entice my followers through a variety of offerings.

DISCIPLE

"But I have seen and heard of these things before. Is this not a cycle repeating itself?"

HIGH LORD SHADE

All life is a cycle, my child. The challenge inherent is to break the cycle by evolving, thus creating new, better and stronger threads within the tapestry. We have learned from the mistakes of the past and discarded them. We have learned from the successes as well and built upon them. And finally, we have injected our own uniqueness into the mix. Indeed our very soul is evident within these great works.

DISCIPLE

"But what of the non-believers?"

HIGH LORD SHADE

There will always be those who wish to make themselves feel important by criticizing others. They purport to have grand knowledge of this or that, but simply do not have the talent or ambition to bring their own creations to fruition. Occasionally, you may find a pariah who is wise in the ways but in the end theirs is simply an opinion and should not color your enjoyment of the materials you have been blessed with.

DISCIPLE

"I want to be a part of this now!"

HIGH LORD SHADE

Patience, young one. These things take time. Much care must be taken or one risks losing everything for which we have fought and suffered.

DISCIPLE

"I am sorry to seem so impertinent, master. I only wish to help and be a part of your greatness."

HIGH LORD SHADE

I forgive you. But you will have your time and your chance at glory. My Legionnaires, as they will come to be called, shall assist me in my great works in a myriad of fashions. They too will in part become creators and thus share in this vision.

DISCIPLE

"I bow before your grandeur. You truly are the High Lord of Imagination!"

HIGH LORD SHADE

Yes, my child. But let us not forget those that have come before us to show us the path. Indeed their works stand as paragons of creativity for all to admire.

DISCIPLE

"Surely your creations will become as great as theirs!"

HIGH LORD SHADE

We shall see, my disciple. We shall see...
